England continue impressive Euro 2020 Qualification

14th November 2019

The qualification for the European championships next year is reaching its latter stages, as England look to wrap up the top spot in Group A. The current betting on Euro 2020 has them has the general second favourites for the competition behind only the defending world champions, France. The other sides at the top of the markets include Belgium, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.

England are coming off the back of a fantastic run at the 2018 World Cup in Russia when just losing out to Croatia in the semi-finals. The side continues to progress well and now look to have a real chance of success next year. Following the opening six matches of qualification, England have picked up 15 points from a maximum 18, winning five and losing just one. This includes the side scoring 26 goals and conceding just six. England now have a three points lead over the second placed side Czech Republic, with a further point back to Kosovo. England have two games remaining, firstly at home to Montenegro, before an away trip to Kosovo.

England 5-0 Czech Republic

Matchday 1

England opened up qualification with a very impressive 5-0 home victory over the Czech Republic. This instantly put them in a very solid position to top the group, with the visitors the most likely challengers. Raheem Sterling continued his stunning form with a hat-trick, with captain Kane also getting on the scoresheet.

Montenegro 1-5 England

Matchday 2

England continued their impressive run of form with a 5-1 away victory against Montenegro. The home side took an early lead after just 17 minutes but England responded by putting five goals past them. Both Kane and Sterling again got on the scoresheet, with Keane also scoring and a brace from Ross Barkley.

England 4-0 Bulgaria

Matchday 3

Another strong attacking performance followed for England with a 4-0 home victory against Bulgaria in Wembley Stadium. This was a very one-sided affair as Kane scored a hat-trick that included two from the penalty spot. Sterling was also again on the scoresheet with a second half goal.

England 5-3 Kosovo

Matchday 4

A very poor defensive display from both sides but the attacking line was again the difference. The visitors had taken an early lead inside Wembley but ultimately fell to a 5-3 loss. Sterling and Kane both picked up goals, with Dortmund star Jadon Sancho also netting a brace.

Czech Republic 2-1 England

Matchday 5

England then suffered their first and only loss of qualification, with the surprise 2-1 defeat away at the Czech Republic. This was despite taking an early lead through a Harry Kane penalty. The home side responded just four minutes later and then netted the winner in the 85th minute.

Bulgaria 0-6 England

Matchday 6

England then travelled to Bulgaria in what was a very hostile atmosphere. They responded from their loss with a very dominant 6-0 away victory. This also saw then reduce the home side to just two shots on target over the 90 minutes. Rashford put England ahead early, with both Barkley and Sterling netting braces. Captain Kane also scored late on to continue his scoring run in qualification.
