Top Festivals To Attend In Cornwall This Summer

24th January 2020

People flock to Cornwall every year for a beautiful summer holiday. The mix of sun, sea and sand is a draw to the region. However, in recent years the lure of the county’s many popular festivals is another reason to join the fun. Cornwall is less known for its huge festivals, apart from, of course, last year’s most notable cancellation of Boardmasters. Playing to its strengths and riding the tide of the Great British weather, smaller events are popping up across the region to bring a mix of celebration, culture and popular music.

So if you’re heading to Cornwall this summer, check out some of the top festivals that are perfect for all the family.

Eden Sessions: 17th June – 15th July

What’s not to love about a festival right in the heart of the spectacular Eden Project! The biomes come alive with light and music, and this year it plays host to popular acts such as Lionel Richie and The Script.

Tropical Pressure Festival: 17th - 20th July

Head to Porthtowan for a slice of tropical flavour this year. This vibrant and exciting festival is welcoming a range of acts inspired by the vibes of Brazil, Kenya, Cuba and Jamaica, to name a few. Its not just music that’ll get you in the mood for a good time either. The range of delicious food and drink is set to get your taste buds tingling.

St Endellion Summer Music Festival: 28th July – 8th August

For lovers of classical music, this charming yet internationally famous festival is a must-see. Here you can appreciate many musical talents including opera, chamber, orchestral and recital concerts. Its unique and immersive atmosphere is enchanting, and its home in St Endellion’s former rectory adds to the experience.

Boardmasters Festival: 5th - 9th August

Although Boardmasters was cancelled last year due to terrible weather, it’s back with a bang this year with a line up of famous acts. Its position on the beautiful coastline of Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay also plays host to water sports. Plus, let’s not forget the captivating sea views to admire.

Falmouth Week: 7th – 16th August

This festival is the highlight of the town’s calendar and is a major attraction during the summer holidays. The event plays host to a huge sailing competition, and spectators can immerse themselves in the fun and excitement while watching the event. Live music, good food and lots of local drink are served too. Plus the whole family can enjoy workshops, fireworks and themed nights in the big tent.

Feel inspired?

Why not host your own event! Take a look at hiring a Midland Marquees Pop Up Gazebo and see what local catering is available to create your own festival in this beautiful part of the world.

Cornwall is an ideal spot to soak up the region’s beautiful locations while enjoying local festivals popping with community vibes and local culture. Start planning your event calendar now and don’t forget to head to the region for some festival fun.
