Every summer around 5 million people visit Cornwall - most visiting the Duchy’s beautiful beaches and coastline.

Last year the RNLI lifeguards carried out 5,700 rescues here in Cornwall, while the lifeboats were launched more than 1,200 times.

While they do an outstanding job at keeping us safe, we still feel it’s important to know as much as possible, especially when considering the fact that most people that were rescued had no intention of going in the water that day.

As a result, Pirate FM and the RNLI have teamed up to offer timely, relevant advice on having a fun and staying safe on beaches across the Duchy.

Every morning just after 09:30, we’ll be giving listeners an update from RNLI lifeguards posted across the county, giving details about current beach conditions and safe locations to spend the day at.
