The 4th August 2014 marked the 100th anniversary of the day Britain entered the First World War.

The war involved all of the world's major economic powers and was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, with more than 9 million combatants killed.

It paved the way for major political changes and even revolutions in some of the nations involved.

The First World War lasted until 11th November 1918, Armistice Day.

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the First World War, Pirate FM & Pirate 2 broadcast a special tribute programme on Monday 4th August 2014 at 1pm.

This thought-provoking and emotional broadcast was been produced by Pirate FM's award-winning production team.
