Cornwall's Pirate FM have teamed up with students at Pool Academy and local Primary Schools, to give them the opportunity to create their own commercial and learn more about the exciting world of radio!
Our team have been working with the media students there and selected primary school children from local schools Pencoys, Illogan, Roskear, Rosemellin, St Johns, and Treloweth to give them an insight into the world of radio, how to write interviews and what goes into writing a commercial.
The students are writing an interview style commercial for the school, telling us why they love it so much.
They will then ask local primary school students why they would like to come to Pool Academy, and start their secondary education.
One of these commercials will go on-air on Cornwall's biggest radio station, and will be voiced by the children that wrote it.
This will be launched on air when we broadcast our breakfast show live from Pool Academy on the 8th July!
Students and staff from the schools begin a session with Pirate FM's Tina Bessell, Jess Blakeway, Neil Griffiths and Emma Carton
About Pool Academy
Our main aim is to create a happy and positive place to learn, but that does not mean that we compromise on the quality of our teaching or learning. We expect all our students to do their very best. We encourage them to gain high grades and qualifications in a wide range of different subjects.
We really do believe that our school days should be the best days of our lives. We want our students to look forward to coming to school, safe in the knowledge that they will be supported and encouraged every step of their journey by outstanding care and inspirational teaching, excellent facilities, a wide range of clubs and activities as well as memorable experiences.
At Pool Academy no student is just a number or part of a league table. Every student is different, with their own special talents, capacity to learn and potential to succeed. We value and encourage each individual to be as successful as they can be. We firmly believe that we do our very best when we feel happy and safe in our surroundings, confident in our own abilities and where we enjoy mutual respect.
Making the move from primary to secondary school can be incredibly daunting for new students. Here at Pool Academy we are committed to making this important first step as smooth and effective as possible, and we arrange many different activities to make this so.
For five years we are entrusted with the care, welfare and educational development of our students. If we have done our job properly, working closely with parents and carers, we will produce confident and talented individuals, equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to make their mark on the world.
