Gilbert and Goode Ltd, one of our Group companies, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to join their company, on a permanent basis, to manage the design and regulatory approval process for G&G projects from planning to completion of the build in line with business plan targets on a wide range of schemes throughout Devon and Cornwall.

Gilbert & Goode was established in 1972 and is now one of the largest Cornish construction companies in the region and we deliver a range of contracts which reflect the versatility and skills of our workforce, from major projects and refurbishment to minor works and maintenance.

Senior Technical Manager


Our Senior Technical Manager will deputise for the Pre-Construction Manager on the management of the technical team and assist in the strategic overview & management of all projects within the pre-construction stage, including programming & reporting. You will work with the Pre-Construction Manager and Head of Development to agree strategic approaches for projects with regard to technical aspects and regularly report on compliance, contract requirements, planning conditions and ecological requirements. 


You will have strong knowledge and appreciation of project management and for estimating, along with experience and a proven ability of technical stage design management, budget and quality standards with high customer satisfaction results. In addition you will have strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health and Safety in the construction industry and of strategic level working on projects with regards to design approach.  You will also have experience of reviewing projects at a strategic level and of costing pre-construction services for projects.


You will be able to present and conduct yourself in a confident and professional manner and takes responsibility for actions & projects: tackling demanding goals with enthusiasm. Whilst working under pressure you able to remain calm and meet deadlines and prioritise your time effectively.


It is essential you hold an HNC or equivalent Level 5 qualification in a Design & Construction related discipline. A degree or equivalent level 6 qualification in a related field is desirable, but not essential.
