The Royal Air Forces Association is a member-led welfare charity that exists to ensure all members of the RAF family are supported as and when they require it. The RAF Family includes anyone serving or who has served in the RAF, Regular or Reserve, their respective partner, spouse and /or dependent children is a member of the RAF family. The RAF Association Branch is a self sufficient registered charity that forms part of the Association. Through the work of branch members, The Association is able to meet its charitable objective of supporting the RAF family. Branches are responsible to the Central Council and Area Council. The Branch Chair will be responsible for leading Committee and Branch meetings. Duties of Branch Chair include: · Heads the committee of officers · Overall responsibility for business conducted in Branches · Delegates tasks to other officers in the committee

What's Involved

Training required

You will receive a full induction and on-going support from the Branch Vice-Chair and Branch Secreatry.

Time commitment

The time commitment of a Branch Volunteer will vary according to the role and Branch you are volunteering in. 

The Truro Branch has indicated that the time committment would be expected to be on average 2-3 hours per month.

This role also requires regular commitment to attend branch meetings and update all members.

Skills and attributes required

The Branch Chair will need to have a variety of skills, including:
• Communication and listening skills
• Relationship building skills 
• Organisational skills


You must be aged over 18.

This role involves a regular commitment to attend branch meetings and to update all members.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with RAFA policy.

Ongoing support will be provided by the Branch Chair.
