Gary Barlow has told a Bodmin teenager and his Let It Shine band mates they "achieved everything we give them".

Huw Roberts and Nightfall had high praise from all the judges in the live final on Saturday night.

However they just missed out on the win, to become the five guys who will star in a Take That stage show.

16-year-old Huw and the boys performed a rendition of Footloose and Boyz ll Men's "End of the Road".

After their performance, Gary said: "These guys achieved everything we give them. Their job is to convince the audience they are a boy band, a great boy band and they achieved".

Nightfall made it through to the final with performances of David Guetta and Usher's 'Without You' and Coldplay's 'The Scientist', which Gary described as a "vocal masterclass".

During one of the videos showing Nightfall's journey, Huw said: "I never even thought I would make it that far and I have made it to the live finals. I couldn't have asked for a better four guys to be doing it with".

On Saturday,  Martin Kemp told Huw and Nightfall they were the best band in the competition and had 'set the competition alight'.

Dannii Minogue added: "This is everything we wanted it to be. You were all shining."

If Huw's audition is anything to go by, something tells us we have not seen the last of him...

And you certainly seem to agree, judging by the comments on Pirate FM's Facebook page.

Brenda posted: "Well done Huw & the rest of Nightfall, you were brilliant. Please carry on singing as you have been I'm sure this is not the last we have heard of you.

"It would be fantastic if a record company signed you up as the band Nightfall. Thank-you for the many weeks of awesome singing. Good Luck to you for your future".

Jasmin wrote: "Unlucky Huw! All our families' votes went for you!! Cornwall all the way!!!"

While Maria simply wrote: "Shame they didn't get it, but don't stop trying".

In the end, FiveToFive secured the public vote after a night that saw comedian Peter Kay dress as 'Honey P to step in as guest judge.

It was after Robbie Williams pulled out because of injury - but he did re-join Take That band mates Gary, Mark and Howard for a special performance of 'The Flood'. Tissues at the ready...

Gary has tweeted to say that rehearsals for stage show 'The Band' start on Monday.

It will tour theatres for the next 12 months, including Plymouth's Theatre Royal in May.
