Car Fire Closes A30

A car fire has closed a stretch of Cornwall's busiest road.

Firefighters from Hayle and Tolvaddon were called to the A30 on Saturday evening.

They found a car "severely damaged" by fire, about 500 yards from Loggans Moor roundabout.

Crews, wearing breathing kit, had to use foam and hoses to douse the flames, just after 5.30pm.

The road was shut in both directions but has since reopened.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters from Hayle and Tolvaddon were mobilised to reports of a car fire on the A30.

"The Police were in attendance and closed off the road.

"On arrival crews found one car severely damaged by fire.

"They used four breathing apparatus, foam and three hose reels to extinguish the fire".
