Fatal A30 Crash

Two cyclists have died after a crash on the A30.

A lorry driver has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after it happened at Summercourt on Tuesday morning.

Police, fire crews and the air ambulance were called to the accident that shut the carriageway between Carland Cross and Highgate.

Devon and Cornwall Police said next of kin are currently being identified but the cyclists are not believed to be local.

"Police are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision after two cyclists have been in collision with a lorry in Newquay.
 
"Police were called at 8.37am today (Tuesday 2 July) to the A30 eastbound at Summercourt, Newquay, approximately one mile before the Fraddon exit.
 
"Fire and ambulance services have been called.
 
Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and avoid the area if possible."
