With temperatures hitting almost thirty degrees celcius in Cornwall, Truro Cathedral has opened a Christmas shop.

It is selling nativity sets, decorations and advent calendars between now and the big day.

Dean of Truro Roger Bush says there are only a hundred and fifty-eight shopping days left after all:

"I know it sounds a bit surprising at the hottest time of the year. Because actually we've had a Christmas shop in the Cathedral over the last four or five years, and the demand for Christmas products in July and August, when there's been more visitors in the Cathedral, has been very high.

"If the weather wasn't quite as good, then there'd probably be more people walking aroud the streets of Truro than on the beaches where they should be on a day like this.

"But you can't have everything, and I'm the last person to say we don't want to have all this lovely weather. High twenties temperatuers, wall-to-wall sunshine and crib sets, but there you go."
