Anger At Newquay Beach Litter

There is anger in Newquay as piles of litter build up on the beach.

Locals are angry Fistral is being strewn with bottle and cans.

They want more action to keep the area clean saying it has attracted vermin and is a blight for holidaymakers too.

Town rep Lyndon Harrison said: "People should be clearing up after themselves. The trouble is that they tend not to. Somebody needs to take responsibility. It should be either the people who are closest to the beach, working there or the local authority.

"The holiday makers come down here for the beaches, they come here for the sunshine and the great weather, the great atmosphere and the friendliness of the town. It's all there, nothing's changed. It's just looking tired and dirty and uncared for."
