Pirate FM Rugby Round-Up
3:58pm 13th September 2013
The Cornish Pirates are gearing up to play their first game of the season on Sunday.
There will be seven new faces making their debut in the championship match against Bristol, who are the favourite team to be promoted to the premiership.
The Pirates' players are excited after a tough pre-season to get the league under way.
The newest team members, James Tincknell and Kieran Davies, signed last week after training with the squad over summer.
Other new additions are lock James Sandford, flanker Joel Conlon, centre Rheon James, and full-back Craig Holland.
Assistant coach Harvey Biljon said: "Their attitude and application has been excellent so far. They are still learning how to be professional rugby players, some having come from university. They're in good shape and have done good work with the conditioning team. It's going to be exciting times for them."
The match at Exeter's Sandy Park kicks off at 3.30pm.
Elsewhere, it is a big derby match for Redruth and Launceston in National League Two.
The Reds make the trip to Polson Bridge on Saturday.
Both teams lost their first matches of the season.
The match kicks off at 3.00pm.
