A Cornish schoolboy has been found dead.

The 15 year old Richard Lander pupil was discovered in Scorrier last night.

Police say an ambulance was called but he was pronounced dead.

The exact circumstances are not known yet, but officers say that they are not treating the lad's death as suspicious.

Steve Mulcahy, Headteacher of Richard Lander School, said: "It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the death of a current student at Richard Lander School.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and our staff and student body at this most difficult time."

In a statement police said: "Officers are investigating the circumstances of the death but it is not being treated as suspicious. The family have been informed, as well as the school.

"A file will be prepared by police and passed to the coroner."
