A Newquay man has been arrested by counter terror police.

Lyes Outiren is due in front of Westminster magistrates later.

Teams from the South East Counter Terrorism Unit charged the forty-three year old on suspicion of possession of material for a terrorist purpose.

Superintendent John Green, Local Police Area Commander, said: "I would like to reassure the community that this investigation should have very little impact on local residents.

"The arrest was pre-planned and was not made in response to any immediate threat to public safety in Newquay.”
