A car has smashed into the living room of a house near Looe.

It came off the road at Downderry hitting a bungalow and bringing down the side porch.

The driver was treated by paramedics yesterday evening.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 20:16 a call was received to a report of a car leaving the road and hitting a domestic premise.

"Two appliances with seven crew from Looe were mobilised to the incident. Fortunately on the fire services arrival it was established that no persons were trapped inside the vehicle, the car had impacted with a domestic bungalow and had knocked down a side porch.

"The vehicle was still ‘inside’ the porch on crews arrival, Fire crews made the premise safe and the vehicle was driven from the damaged structure.

"Once the vehicle had been recovered firefighters made the vehicle safe. The driver of the car was treated by Ambulance personnel."
