Miracle Escape As Van Plunges Into River

A driver has escaped with a suspected broken arm after his van slid down a bank and into the Tamar.

He managed to scramble clear before it ended up roof deep in the swollen river.

The crash happened at the Newbridge crossing in Gunnislake at around 9am this morning.

Diversions have been set up while engineers check the bridge to ensure it is safe.
