A woman has been killed in a crash near Bude.

Her car ran out of control in the early hours - and rolled upside down in a field north of Marhamchurch.

Police say the driver was in her twenties and from the Holsworthy area.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at Eastcott Cross by paramedics.

Her family has been told.

A stretch of the A39 is closed while teams work out what happened to the Vauxhall Corsa.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash at around 1.10am on Friday morning.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The A39 is closed at the junctions for Morwenstow, Eastcott and Bradworthy.

"Diversions are in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area for the time being."
