A man found unconscious on the beach in Bude has died in hospital.

Police, coastguard and a helictoper from Chivenor were involved in the search for the forty-nine year old when he disappeared on Friday.

His family contacted emergency crews when he had not returned.

He was spotted on Summerleaze and was taken to north Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple - but doctors could not save him.

Officers are asking anyone who saw him walking the cliffs in a black coat to come forward.

We are being asked to call 101 with more information, quoting log 497 of March 14th.
