The government is being asked to bring in a new set of laws to stop another Camelford water poisoning.

MP Dan Rogerson wants officials to face a charge of "wilful neglect" if they try a cover-up.

Some people who drank the supply contaminated with aluminium sulphate did not find out there was a problem for days.

Peter Smith is from the Lowermoor Support Group: "We've been whistle-blowing for many years but they're still doing their very best not to listen to us and that has to stop. It's not a responsible way for a 21st century first world nation to behave; it's just despicable.

"This has been a cover-up, there's no doubt about it. They've tried to suppress it right from the word go and we need to find out who is responsible and more importantly, have they still got their hands on the levers of power behind the scenes nearly 26 years on."
