Flybe 'Committed' to Newquay Airport

Flybe tells Cornwall it is committed to Newquay airport for the foreseeable future ... and that includes the air link to London.

The operator is due to pull out of the Gatwick service in October.

Now bosses say they want to continue after the government said it would be subsidised.

Chief commercial officer Paul Simmons tells Pirate FM they will be tendering for the route: "PSO's are to support lifeline routes which would otherwise drop away because they are un-economic. We can't pre-judge the answer to who's going to win but we will be going very hard and to bring our best foot forward to make sure that we secure that PSO and can carry on serving the market.

"We are completely committed to the people of Cornwall because we are the biggest operator at Newquay Airport and will continue to be so. But we just need to make sure we go through the process and win that PSO and then carry on for another four years."
