Pirate FM Plans New Radio Station For Cornwall
12:07pm 28th July 2014
(Updated 12:07pm 28th July 2014)
More than 20 years after Pirate FM changed radio in Cornwall, we're about to do it again.
We can reveal plans for a brand new radio station for the Duchy, called Pirate 2.
It will bring together top experts from across Cornwall, to host shows about education, farming and health amongst others.
It is due on air on 4th August - and work has been underway for the last few months to assemble the technical wizardry required.
Listeners will be able to tune in online, through iTunes and DAB digital radio, meaning you can choose whether to listen live or catch up with your favourite shows when it is more convenient.
Pirate MD Mark Peters said: "This is really us taking the local heritage of Pirate FM to a brand new and really exciting level, where we can deliver huge amounts of new content to our loyal listenership and new listeners as well.
"The great thing about this new platform is that we've got award winning presenters on our radio station. We're incredibly proud of that so you're still going to hear all of your favourite presenters and all of your favourite shows: Neil and Tina, Scott, JD - they're all going to be there on our brand new baby."
Isha Pit is part of the team putting together the new radio station. She said: "We will have The Business Hub, which will air every Monday, which will focus on helping everyone in business succeed - in particular the local community.
"We also have The Farming Show, which of course will be very important for the local area. We have The Health and Wellbeing Show, The Homes and Gardens Show and The Education and Training Show.
Although the station will be broadcast live on DAB all the shows will be made available ondemand. Isha said: "All the shows will be podcast. So, as soon as they have aired at 8pm that night that show will be available to listen to online. It will also be available on iTunes as well."
Stay tuned for more details about how to tune into Pirate 2 - the brand new radio station about life in Cornwall that's made in Cornwall.12:07pm 28th July 2014
