A teenager has taken to hospital after tombstoning near Looe.

Coastguards say an eighteen year old has got head injuries.

It happened at Polperro.

Simon Hannaford is the RNLI's sea safety officer in nearby Fowey.

He reckons a lot of tourists are influenced by seeing locals.

Now he is urging people not to try it, he said: "[They think] if they can do it we can do it, it looks good it looks fun, but sadly it's not.

"You don't know much water is underneath when you are jumping in, and we see it so many times, we try to warn them but they never seem to listen to us, you can break your legs, you can break your back, because sometimes there is only a couple of feet of water under you."

Elsewhere there was another tombstoning near miss.

This time in Porthleven where a teenager leapt across fifteen feet of jagged rocks.

People nearby say it looked like he was limping as he climbed out near the Pill Box.

Andy Thomas is from the RNLI in the Duchy, he is worried it is getting more popular.

He said: "It does attract people, a nice sunny day and the water looks really nice, but you need to be familiar with your surroundings, the depth of the water and the tides.

"We do see injuries and it is becoming more popular now, I think people tend to follow other people and that's a danger in itself."
