Cornwall's Hidden Child Neglect

Pirate FM can reveal Cornwall's hidden child neglect.

Sixty percent of local councils don't know how many youngsters are suffering... including the Duchy.

Officials say other than those already known to social services - it is impossible to estimate.

Action for Children did the research.

Sir Tony Hawkshead runs the charity and said: "I met a young man not long ago whose parents never actually held him in the first two years of his life, never addressed him by this name, never said that they loves him. The impact that has had on his life has been very profound and very damaging.

"We know already from research from NSPCC and OFSTED that there may be over a million neglected children in our country. That's a very large number and as sooner we can identify where those neglected children are the sooner we can help them."
