A robber has held up a Cornish corner shop.

It happened in St Austell on Saturday evening.

It was just after 9pm that a man walked into the Spar on Brockstone Road.

He put a bag on the counter - and demanded money.

The female member of staff handed over cash before he fled.

Police say he is slim and was wearing a dark hoody with his face covered.

Officers have told Pirate FM no weapon was seen.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A man entered Spar store in Brockstone Road, St Austell at 9.09pm on Saturday 27 September and placed a bag on the kiosk demanding cash.

"The female staff member handed over cash and the man fled.

"He is described as slim and was wearing a darky hoody with his face covered.

"Enquiries are continuing."
