It broke out at St Veep in the early hours of Wednesday.

They say one barn was destroyed and they were trying to save an adjacent barn.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "A call at 0430 hours was made to fire control stating that a barn was on fire.

"Initially appliances from Lostwithiel and Polruan attended along with two whole time officers.

"On arrival crews found one barn measuring thirty five meters by forty meters to be well alight. Further resources were sent which included appliances from Looe and Bodmin, two water carriers from Liskeard and Wadebridge, the incident command vehicle from Launceston, the operational support vehicle from St Austell, and the welfare vehicle from St Dennis.

"At 0519 hours it was reported that the barn was almost completely destroyed by the fire and that main attempts were being made to save an adjacent barn."
