Falmouth Students Stage Protest Over Sign

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 3:27pm 16th March 2016. (Updated at 3:42pm 16th March 2016)

Students in Falmouth are carrying out a peaceful protest over a new sign outside the University.

A group has decorated the concrete sign outside the Wood Lane with fabric.

It is in a bid to "give it back to the locals in the area and make it our own", according to student Tom Stockley.

He tells Pirate FM they want to: "Bridge the gap between students and local residents - things like that ugly grey sign don't help.

They are running a day of arts and crafts events on Wednesday.

It will include workshops, story-telling, live music and poetry, dressing up, games, book stands, a time machine, a petting zoo and a bake sale.

Organisers describe it as: "A peaceful occupation of the space to claim it as our own (and celebrate people and ideas - what Falmouth is really about) - bring whatever you can!"
