Fisherman's Body Found In Helford River

A fisherman's body has been found in the Helford River.

Police, the coastguard and lifeboat crews were scrambled to Rosemullion Head on Monday lunchtime.

Crews found a boat and a body in the water.

The 56 year old from the Lizard was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were called by Coastguard at 12.45pm on Monday 28th March.

"A fishing vessel moored close to Rosemullion Head was located by fishermen which appeared to have no-one on board.

"A crew went aboard and found a man in the water at the side of the vessel.

"The Inshore Lifeboat attended and crew commenced CPR.

"The casualty was airlifted to Treliske but pronounced deceased a short time later.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"The man is 56 and from the Lizard area."
