Is this the world's biggest planter?

The giant pot has been built near Launceston in a bid to copy the US trend of giant roadside sculptures.

Peter Jones the owner and creator of Hidden Valley Discovery Park and Landscape Gardens built it and is hoping it not only breaks a world record but also brings in visitors.

The planter is approximately 4.8 metres tall and has nearly 30 trees in it at the moment, while staff decide what to plant in it permanently which would be to scale.

David Clarke from the park told Pirate FM: "Initially we were thinking of doing the world's biggest deckchair, but there's one already touring the UK so because we are working on the gardens this year we thought we'd do the world's biggest planter."

He has applied to Guinness World Records to get it recognised and is hoping to hear back in six weeks: "We're hoping for us it'll bring people into the doors and to come and see us but it would be nice if it was something else to bring people into Cornwall. To have something unique

"The trend hasn't majorly taken off in the UK yet but I think there should be more of it. You can see something for free, take your photos with it, it's art as well at the end of the day."
