Thick fog is set to cover Cornwall as forecasters issue a yellow weather warning.

The Met Office has put it in place from 7pm on Wednesday evening through until 10am on Thursday morning.

We are being warned that it could cause difficult driving conditions on the drive to work.

A spokesperson said: "Patches of fog are likely to form readily in rural areas during Wednesday evening, becoming more widespread and locally dense overnight and at first on Thursday morning.

"Please be aware that low visibility could lead to extended journey times and difficult driving conditions in
places."

The Chief Forecaster's assessment reads: "Under clearing skies, patchy fog is expected to develop during
Wednesday evening, initially in rural areas, but becoming more extensive across southern parts of England overnight, both at low levels and on hills.

"Visibilities will be very variable, but as low as 50-100 metres in places."

Aside from the fog, there will be some clear spells overnight and will be chilly too, especially in rural spots.

Lows of 11 degrees.

On Thursday the fog and low cloud will be slow to clear in the morning morning.

There will be some brightness later on but it will stay largely cloudy, perhaps with odd spots of drizzle.

Maximum temperatures of 16 degrees.

This comes just days after a yellow weather warning for rain went out - and the Duchy was pounded by torrential downpours.

That caused flash flooding in Falmouth which created chaos for drivers.
