PHOTOS: Cornwall's popular supermarket cat dies

A cat that regularly curled up in front of a supermarket in Penzance has died.

Milo was often spotted sleeping in the doorway of Tesco or sitting on top of displays.

Dubbed 'Tescat', the popular moggy even had his own page on Facebook.

His owner posted the sad news on Thursday, saying she thinks he was hit by a car.

Milo's owner had a card and flowers from the team at Penzance Tesco and tributes have been pouring in.

She posted: "Again, thankyou to everyone for your kind words! your all making me cry! Haha. And a massive thankyou to the tesco staff for my lovely card and flowers... (crying again) it means the world to me that he was so loved!

"He has now been layed to rest after an awful lot of digging! So I guess its now time to say goodbye! you lovely lovely bunch of people!

"If anyone else has pictures that haven't been shared yet, I would love you to share them for me! I want to make up a scrap book of his adventues and maybe even one day write a book!"

Claire posted: "Heart goes out to you, we only recently met him when he got into our car but he was a real character. RIP Milo, love to you and your family".

Colleague Pauline commented: Sorry to here this. I always said hello to him when he was there when I went in to the store to clock in and out. Will miss him".

Gem posted: "So sorry. We loved saying hi when we shopped. Made so many people smile. Special little cat".

Annalese works at Tesco and wrote: "We all will miss him at Tesco, made me smile every time I saw him. He was much loved ,and we all feel so sad for you and your family".
