Police have launched an appeal after a man was allegedly threatened by another wielding a knife in Newquay.

Officers say the victim, who has not come forward, was dragged into an alley by three other men.

They had reports one was holding a blade in his hand and threatening a man wearing a wetsuit on the floor.

It happened behind Berry Road in broad daylight at around 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

Inspector Dave Meredith said: "As there was a report of a knife being involved, the police are treating this as a very serious incident.

"As yet, the victim has not come forward and contacted the police".

He added: "Absolutely not something I would expect to happen anywhere and especially not in Newquay.

"I would like to reassure all residents and visitors to Newquay that Newquay is a very safe place.

"It is very, very rare that we have any incident like this and exceptionally rare that we have an incident with a knife."

Any information in relation to this incident can be passed to Police on 101 in regards to ref number 402-19032017
