A pedestrian has been left with life-changing injuries after a crash near Redruth.

Police were called to Lower Broad Lane in Illogan on Monday afternoon, after reports of a collision with a car.

Officers say it is believed that a vehicle hit a wall and another car, just before school pick-up time.

A 42-year-old man, airlifted to Derriford after suffering a serious injury to his leg, has had to have surgery.

It blocked the road near Spar Lane and Broad Lane for several hours.

Investigators are urging anyone who might have seen something or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in the Redruth area that has left a person with life-changing injuries.

"At around 2:45pm on Monday the 20th March, a serious collision took place on Lower Broad Lane, Illogan, Redruth.

"It is believed that a red Volvo, travelling towards Paynters Lane End, mounted the pavement and collided with a pedestrian and a wall, before returning to the carriageway and colliding with a stationary silver Vauxhall Corsa, before coming to rest.

"A 42-year-old local man sustained serious, life-changing injuries to his right leg and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital where he has undergone surgery.

"Enquiries are underway and police are appealing for witnesses. Officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit would also like to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage that could help them with their investigations".

Witnesses are asked to contact 101@dc.police.uk quoting log number 420 for the 20th of March.
