A car fire has blocked a busy road in Cornwall.

It is believed the blaze involved a taxi on the A39 near Truro on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters from the city were called to the stretch near Buckshead just before 10am.

They tweeted a warning to drivers to expect delays, after it happened near Penmount Crematorium.

Crews say the road is damaged and Highways have been called to the scene.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "One fire appliance from Truro Community Fire Station attended reports of a taxi on fire.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hosereels to extinguish the fire".
