A man has been found guilty of murdering a Newquay woman's two-year-old son.

A jury heard little Harry House had been kicked and punched in Dorset last May, while his mum popped to the shops.

Winchester Crown Court was told that at 9am that morning, he had been jumping up and down excited to bake a cake.

The tot was rushed to hospital but could not be saved and by 11am, the young boy had been pronounced dead.

His mum Lauren O'Neill grew up in Cornwall and was a pupil at Newquay Tretherras.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Derbyshire told ITV News Westcountry she broke down in the public gallery.

"It's been so upsetting for her - the loss of her little boy and the grieving. But it's almost been that she hasn't been able to grieve because of the whole police investigation".

DCI Sarah Derbyshire added: "He was a cheeky little chappy and that's certainly the impression we've got of him.

"We've always had a picture of him up in our incident room to remind us what a lovely little boy he was.

Lauren was heard shouting "justice for Harry" outside court on Thursday afternoon.

Her ex-partner, Joseph Eke, was convicted following a three week trial.

The 22-year-old from Broadmayne will be sentenced on June 5th.
