Liam Payne has been dishing the dirt on becoming a dad, his new single and secret gigs in Cornwall, in an exclusive interview with Pirate FM.

The One Direction star told Neil and Lucy at Breakfast his heart just melts when he looks at baby Bear.

But he admitted that Cheryl has taken on most of the work, as he produces new music and prepares to go on tour.

Liam said: "Bear happened at a time when music was being made and stuff was happening. He's got my hair and nose and stuff, but he's got her eyes. Oh my God, when he looks at me, he just melts my - I can't even tell you".

So what about those trips to the Duchy?

Liam continued: "I started trying to be a solo singer when I was 14 so it has actually been 10 years. I've played Cornwall a couple of times. I used to do little gigs here and there when I was 15".

Lucy pushed him on his last visit to Cornwall, to which Liam replied: "The last time I can remember being there was with my late granddad, in Looe".

So there you have it folks - Liam started his career with gigs in Cornwall and you heard it here at Pirate FM first!

Listen to the interview with Neil and Lucy at Breakfast in full.

As for his new single, it is called 'Strip That Down' and it seems that the singer might have taken a bit of swipe at his old band.

One of the 23-year-old's lyrics says: "You know I used to be in 1D, but now I'm out free".
