A man has pleaded guilty after a woman died in a suspected hit-and-run in north Cornwall.

The 52-year-old from London denied death by dangerous driving - but admitted causing death by careless driving.

It comes after 45-year-old Kate Bailey's body was found in a ditch on Trewiston Lane, St Minver, last July.

The man also pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified/uninsured and one count of dangerous driving.

The case has now been adjourned to October 31st and he is currently on bail.

At the time, a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged in connection to the death of a woman in a suspected hit and run in July 2016.

"A member of the public called police shortly before 4.45am on Tuesday 19th July 2016 following the discovery of the woman’s body on Trewiston Lane, St Minver.

"She was later named as 45-year-old local woman, Kate Bailey."

They later added: "A 51 year old man from Flood Street, London, has been charged with Death by dangerous driving; Failure to stop after a road accident; Failure to report a road accident; Dangerous driving; and Driving without appropriate insurance".
