Bude Coastguard have been putting their skills to the test in a training exercise this weekend.

amateur photographer played the part of a missing person on Friday night (August 10).

He gave only the time he had parked his car, its location and a description of what he was wearing to the team.

The coastguard said it was a successful exercise: "Using behaviour profiling, search management skills and local knowledge, our trainee Officer in Charge deployed three teams of three Coastguard Rescue Officers (our thanks to three colleagues from the Boscastle Coastguard Rescue Team who joined us in the exercise) to search different routes and locations where he was likely to be found.

"Happily, at around 20:17 the casualty was located safe and well.

"Searching for missing persons is an integral part of the training and practice for any Coastguard Rescue Officer.

"We can be called out at any time of day or night, whatever the weather, to search for vulnerable people who have gone missing for whatever reason.

"Many thanks to Baz for his invaluable assistance in acting out the role of a missing person."
