Fresh photos have emerged after fire destroyed a lorry trailer outside a Cornish roadside cafe.

Flames and smoke could be seen billowing out near Smokey Joe's at Scorrier.

Eyewitnesses have described hearing a "huge explosion" on Sunday night.

Firefighters think the blaze, that broke out just after midnight, could be arson.

Police told Pirate FM no-one was inside when it happened and confirmed they are investigating.

Aaron Byworth posted these pictures on Facebook, saying: "After an explosion that shook the house, we had discovered an artic's trailer on fire - full of tyres at Smokey Joe's".

It sparked a string of replies, including Kelly who said: "We've been hearing about it in the pub".

Amber posted: "That was there when we went there on Saturday. Big fire. At least Smokey's is still there!"

Arron added: "Everyone is talking about this - it was a hell of a fire".

Charlotte Warren posted this photo to Pirate FM's Facebook page, showing the full extent of the damage...

Julia commented: "The explosion was so loud and the heat from the fire was incredible. Glad driver okay".

Kim added: "It was scary to see the flames so high but the exploding tyres were the worst part.

"We were relieved to see there was no truck attached to the trailer. The brave firefighters and amulance crew were amazing".

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two appliances from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station responded to this incident.

"On arrival, a lorry trailer was found to be well alight. Firefighters used four breathing apparatus sets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

"Arson is suspected and Devon and Cornwall Police are also in attendance".
