Police in Plymouth are investigating claims a young woman has been raped.

Officers say they were called to reports of a "serious sexual assault" in the Barbican area.

Photos show an area near Sutton Harbour has been cordoned off as investigators sweep the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police say a 19-year-old woman is being supported by specially trained officers.

It happened late on Monday night and anyone who saw something just before midnight is being urged to come forward.
