A busy part of the A30 in Cornwall has been shut for almost an hour because of a police incident.

Officers were called to the stretch between Camborne and Hayle, amid concerns for a man's welfare.

Listeners have also been getting in touch with Pirate FM, after they spotted a man on a bridge.

Megan messaged to say: "Just to make you aware that on the A30, just before you enter Hayle from Camborne, there is a road hazard on the south side".

She added that a man was on the bridge and someone else was "underneath chatting to him".

The road was shut between the junction for Camborne West and the Hayle roundabout.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 2pm to reports of a 'concern of welfare'.

"The call was for a man on a bridge on the A30 at Loggans Moor, Hayle. Officers are at the scene. The A30 has been closed Eastbound".

Just before 3pm they added: "The man in question is now no longer on the bridge and is being supported by police and mental health professionals at the scene.

"The overbridge has now reopened and the A30 will open shortly".

Inrix Traffic and Travel is still reporting delays on the back road through Connor Downs, following the closure.
