Investigations have been carried out after a pupil reportedly made threats against a school in Truro.

Police have been on the scene at Richard Lander this week.

Officers say the threat wasn't viable and will continue to monitor the situation.

Cornwall Council has confirmed the student didn't intend to harm anyone and no one is in danger.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police have been informed this week that a pupil had made a threat towards Richard Lander School.

"We have worked with the appropriate partner agencies to ensure this threat was assessed and handled appropriately.

"The police are content that this threat was not viable and the local policing team will continue liaising with the school to monitor the situation.

"At no time have armed police attended the school."

A spokesperson for Cornwall Council added: "As soon as the school became aware of the actions of a student this week in which the student appeared to threaten the school, it took action by informing the appropriate local authority safeguarding agencies which include the police.

"Investigations have confirmed that the student did not intend harm and that there is no danger to students or staff at the school."
