As the ovens are switched off and the aprons are hung-up, we've taken a look back at the top Great British Bake-Off moments of series 8.

Last night's episode crowned the first winner of the show (don't worry no spoilers), since it hopped to Channel 4.

If you do want to know who won click here.

It was never going to be an easy task to impress loyal GBBO fans, but there were plenty of cringe-worthy lines, nail-biting eliminations, and cake catastrophes to keep them sweet.

Here's our favourites from the ten episodes...

1. The phallic showstopper

Bread week will go down in history as one that really rose to the occasion.

Julia Chernogorova from West Sussex created a showstopper that's rather promiscuous shape brought Paul Hollywood to tears.

The 21-year-old Russian, who now lives in Horsham, decided to make a sculpture of a snail hiding under a mushroom - that looked a bit like... well you make your own mind up.

2. The first Hollywood handshake...or was it?

The Hollywood handshake has become a thing of legend on Bake-Off, but it caused quite the controversy this series.

It appeared Steven was awarded the first from Paul during cake week, but fellow contestant Sophie made the shocking revelation it was actually her!

Sophie told the Radio Times: “I got the first Hollywood handshake on the show – on TV it was edited so it looked like Steven got the first one but it was actually me.”

3. The MAJOR Bake-Off blunder

As much as she'd like us to just blow over this, we can't ignore when Bake Off judge Prue Leith spoiled the show's finale by accidentally tweeting the name of the winner.

The 77-year-old presenter expressed regret over her social media mistake, putting it down to being on holiday and the time difference.

Remember, she's not the first to make the blunder though. In 2015, Mary Berry accidentally revealed the winner during a radio interview with Chris Evans.

4. There's something about Liam

You couldn't deny there was A LOT of love for Liam "Cake Boy" Charles.

Supporters of this year's youngest contestant have been widely celebrating his "win" on social media, despite the fact that the 19-year-old was eliminated two weeks before the finale.

5. Fridge-gate

New presenter Noel Fielding faced backlash over that skit in the fridge.

OFCOM received 55 complaints with some mums worried their kids would try to copy the stunt.

The watchdog decided not to investigate Channel 4 or Noel...

6. The baking powder faux-pas

The first contestant to get the chop from the new series was IT manager Peter.

He was a little too enthusiastic with the baking powder, scooping FIVE teaspoons into his fruity cake.

Paul Hollywood told the 52-year-old the cake was 'burning his tongue'.

7. The technical catastrophe

You'd think making a stroopwafel would be a walk in the park for the contestants...what is it again?

They were also left scratching their heads when asked to create a syrupy waffle from Holland containing oozy toffee caramel for a technical challenge.

It turned out to be a complete disaster, but made great TV!

8. Nuts about Noel

When he was announced as a new host alongside Sandi Toksvig, there was a lot of scepticism about whether or not he could pull it off..but we think he rocked!

Starting off quietly and slowly growing into the role and messing around more, there is no doubt the bakers loved him.

And how could you not with shirts like this?!
