Body found at base of Cornish cliffs

A man's body has been found at the bottom of cliffs in Cornwall.

The Coastguard made the tragic discovery at Hell's Mouth near Godrevy on Monday morning.

Listeners got in touch with Pirate FM, after spotting several police cars and the RNLI in the area.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they launched a search for a missing man from St Ives first thing.

The body has not been identified yet but officers say the missing man's family has been told.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A police search was launched at 8.55am today [13th November] after a man was reported missing from the St Ives area.

"Police officers and HM Coastguard were involved in the search to locate the man.

"The body of a man was located at the base of cliffs at Hell's Mouth at 9.55am by the Coastguard. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Formal identification is yet to be carried out but next of kin of the missing man have been informed.

"The Coastguard helicopter and ambulance are also in attendance at the scene".
