A man from north Cornwall has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash just over the border.

Police say the 35-year-old was thrown from his car when it hit a telegraph pole near Tavistock.

He was flown to Derriford with a serious head injury after it happened on the B3362 near Dunterton.

The casualty from Launceston was the only person in the vehicle and the road was closed for seven hours on Monday night.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a single-vehicle collision near Tavistock yesterday [13 November] which left a man with a serious head injury.

"Officers were called at 8.15pm after the blue Audi was in collision with a telegraph pole on the B3362 near Dunterton, Milton Abbot.

"The driver and only occupant, a 35-year-old man from Launceston, was ejected from the vehicle. He was airlifted to Derriford Hospital with a serious head injury.

"The road was closed for seven hours for the officers to examine the scene and for the vehicle to be recovered.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the vehicle travelling on the road beforehand to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 691 of 13/11/17".
