A motorbike has caught fire after a crash on Cornwall's old A30.

Officials say a van and motorbike collided on Roseworthy Hill in Connor Downs.

Firefighters say the bike caught alight and teams battled the flames.

Police and paramedics were also called to the scene, along with Cornwall's air ambulance.

Turnpike Road is closed in both directions and it is also affecting traffic between Camborne and Hayle on the A30.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 16.44 hours one fire appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station was mobilised to a reported road traffic collision.

"The collision involved a van and a motorcycle.

"Firefighters used two hose reels and made the scene safe.

"Police, ambulance and the air ambulance are also in attendance."

Inrix Traffic and Travel reported: "Reports of slow traffic due to accident, a car and motorcycle involved on Turnpike Road near Connor Hill / Mutton Hill (Turnpike Inn)."
