Biker suffers 'life-changing' injuries after old A30 crash

A crash on the old A30 in west Cornwall has left a biker with potentially life-changing injuries.

The 21-year-old was airlifted to Newquay and rushed to Derriford after three vehicles hit at Roseworthy.

Firefighters were called to reports a motorbike had burst into flames after the collision on Monday.

A stretch of the road between Hayle and Camborne was closed for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police want to hear from anyone who saw what happened, just before 5pm.

A force spokesperson said: "At 4:43pm on Monday 20th November, police were notified of a three vehicle collision on the old A30 Roseworthy Hill, Camborne.

"A Honda CBF 125cc motorcycle was being ridden from the direction of Connor Downs towards Camborne.

"Heading in the opposite direction were a Kia Sportage followed by a Peugeot Bipper panel van.

"The Honda has initially clipped the offside of the Kia Sportage before substantially colliding with the Peugeot Bipper van.

"The rider of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old local man, who was airlifted to Newquay before being transferred to Derriford, has suffered significant injuries which are believed to be life-changing but not life-threatening".

Firefighters from Tolvaddon also got the call and were at the scene for over two hours.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 1644 hours one fire appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station was mobilised to a reported road traffic collision. The collision involved a van and a motorcycle.

"Firefighters used two hose reels and made the scene safe. Police, ambulance and the air ambulance are also in attendance".
