An elderly man from north Cornwall who killed his wife has been given a hospital order.

Pirate FM told you how Douglas Addison from St Merryn, near Padstow, was charged with murder.

It was after Avis Addison was found dead at home back in February.

When the 89-year-old from Trehemborne Road was originally arrested he denied it to police.

He was remanded in custody and later transferred to hospital for mental health checks.

Addison was deemed unfit to enter a plea because of his dementia.

The pensioner was unable to attend his trial at Exeter Crown Court but the jury found that he did the act as charged.

He has now been handed a hospital order.
