Can you give the only survivor of a litter of puppies in Cornwall a new home?

Nova's brothers and sisters all died after her mum arrived at the National Animal Welfare Trust carrying a virus.

Staff at the centre in Hayle did not realise she was pregnant and the condition was passed on through her milk.

They say Nova will have the virus and when it shows, she will not be able to be around other dogs.

Manager Louise Clarke said: "Hopefully we can find her family because she's such a friendly girl.

"It's nothing nasty that can be passed onto humans so with a loving home and lots and lots of interaction from people, she will live a full and happy life".

So what is Nova like? Louise added: "She's just such a lovely, cuddly and friendly dog".

Will she be poorly? Louise said: "They shed the virus some of the time but not all of the time.

"It's one of those things where sometimes she would be safe to mix with others and other times she definitely wouldn't.

"This is why we've had to put her up for re-homing, living on her own without any other dogs".

The National Animal Welfare Trust's website has a whole section on Nova, which says: "Hi there! I'm a really special girl called Nova, looking for an extra special home.

"I was born at the Centre along with my siblings but, as it was later discovered, our mum was carrying the Herpes virus which meant that sadly all my brothers and sisters passed away.

"I was the lucky one to survive but do now have the Herpes virus myself. This means that, as Herpes is contagious to other dogs, I won't ever be able to meet or walk in areas where any other dogs may be otherwise I could contaminate them too.

"I could also be susceptible to picking up illnesses myself as my immune system will be low at times.

"Because I won't be able to socialise with other dogs, it would be great if I could find a family where I'll get lots of interaction to make up for missing out on playtimes with my own kind.

"Like all puppies, I will chew, have toilet accidents and will need to have training as well as lots of love but I'll repay you with lots of laughs and antics".
