Parts of Cornwall are on flood watch after a day of torrential downpours.

A Met Office yellow weather warning for heavy rain remains in force until midnight.

Pirate FM told you the weather has already turned roads into rivers near Camborne and Chiverton Cross.

Now the Environment Agency has issued a flood alert, warning river levels in west Cornwall are rising.

A spokesperson said: "Flooding is possible this afternoon, Saturday 13th January. Over the last 12 hours we have seen persistent rainfall across Cornwall and the Rivers Hayle and Cober are now rising.

"Further rain is forecast through this afternoon. Expected levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the rivers from around 2pm.

"We expect the river to remain high throughout today and tomorrow, though no flooding to properties is currently forecast.

"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions.

"We are monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages".
